American speed skater Jordan Stolz won gold again during the eighth day of the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics on Saturday (February 14).
Stolz, who had previously won the men's 1000m, won the men's 500m with a time of 33.77 seconds as he and Dutch rival Jenning de Boo became the first two speed skating competitors to break the 34-second mark in Olympic history, with Stolz winning by slightly more than a tenth of a second. The American is halfway to his goal of four gold medals, as he's still scheduled to compete in the 1500m and mass start.
The U.S. men's hockey team dominated in its second game of the 2026 Winter Olympics with a 6-3 win against Denmark on Saturday.
Brady Tkachuk scored his second goal of the tournament while Matt Boldy, Jack Eichel, Noah Hanfin, Jake Guentzel and Jack Hughes each scored their first goals of Olympic play. The Americans are currently leading Group C with six points, holding pace with Group A leader Canada and Group B's Russia, Slovakia and Sweden.
Team USA will continue play with a preliminary matchup against Germany on Sunday (February 15) at 3:10 p.m. ET. Team USA curling had strong performances by both the men's and women's teams, with the women improving to 3-1 with a 7-4 win against Japan and the men defeating Germany, 8-6, with a 1-2 record in the tournament.
