'Disgraceland' Explores 'Mystery' Of Death Of Foo Fighters' Taylor Hawkins

It's been four years since Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins died yet not much is known about that fateful day in rock and roll history.

On the April 28 episode of the Disgraceland podcast, host Jake Brennan dove into the "mystery" behind Hawkins' tragic death in 2022 and why there are still so many questions that have been left unanswered — namely, why an official cause of death has never been publicly released.

Hawkins unexpectedly passed away on March 25, 2022, at the age of 50 in Bogotá, Colombia, while the band was on tour in South America, and a preliminary toxicology report found he had several substances in his system at the time of his death, including opioids, benzodiazepines and THC.

As Brennan described it, searching online for the exact reason why he died will only give you conflicting reports that the rocker died of a drug overdose while authorities in Colombia have not officially classified his death as such.

Brennan asked why we know the fates of other famed drummers, such as The Who's Keith Moon and Led Zeppelin's John Bonham, but not that of "this latter day drumming icon."

"This wasn't the drummer for some random rock band struggling to make ends meet out there on the road. This wasn't some faceless session drummer either," he said. "This was Taylor f---ing Hawkins, one of the most charismatic, larger-than-life drummers of the 21st century, a man whose unique presence and talent behind the kit was challenged by very few, but most ironically by a dude in his own band, Dave Grohl. And now he's gone, and we don't know why? Why not?"
