Their album title was changed "for good."
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl opened up about he and his bandmates were forced to change the title of their new album, Your Favorite Toy, thanks to a certain smash musical movie sequel.
"You know what I wanted to call the record?" the rocker mused during a recent interview with Radio X. "I wanted to call the record 'For Good.' And then that 'Wicked' movie came out and it's called 'Wicked: For Good' and I was so pissed," he joked. "So then I changed the title of the song, and it just became the title of the album."
Grohl explained that the title came from a lyric in the song "Your Favorite Toy," in which he sings, "Get back, hear that, boy? Someone threw away your favorite toy for good."
Last month, the iconic rock band released their twelfth studio album, just a few months after Wicked: For Good premiered in theaters.
In April, the group gave fans an early listen to the highly anticipated album during an intimate iHeartRadio Album Preview at the iHeartRadio Theater in Los Angeles, hosted by Johnny Knoxville. There, they detailed their recording process.
"The same thing happens every time where we'll go in and we'll make a record, and we'll spend a couple months working on it, and then once we're done, we tour for maybe a year and a half," Grohl told Knoxville. "We take a break, and within a few months, we just start sort of writing and sending demos to each other. I think once the songs really start taking shape, or the concept starts taking shape, you're like, 'Okay, now we know what we're going to do. Let's go in and do it.'"
