Dead Kennedys shared an update on founder Jello Biafra's health, following a major stroke two months ago.

"Jello is progressing nicely," the band wrote on their Instagram account on Tuesday (May 5). "His speech has mostly come back in full, and cognitively, it's like the stroke never happened. The left side is still weak but it is doing much better than it was. He is so much more self-sufficient than he was. Thank you for the outpouring of support."

The former frontman of the influential punk band suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in March, reportedly caused by high blood pressure. At the time, Biafra, born Eric Reed Boucher, issued a statement on Instagram via his record label, Alternative Tentacles.

"I hopped out of bed because I needed to pee, and my left leg just collapsed under me, and I fell to the floor," the musician shared at the time. "I couldn't even break the fall with my left arm because it wasn't working either. I tried to hop back up again, and I couldn't. I realized I had 'fallen and I can't get up!' It was this point I thought, 'I'm having a stroke!' I still have a lot of great stuff in me, but right now I gotta lotta rehabbing to do."

The rock group originally formed in California in 1978, going on to become a leading act in the American punk music scene, before breaking up in 1986.

In 2001, the band reunited, replacing Biafra with Brandon Cruz on lead vocals.
