The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach opened up about how the loss of his father inspired the band's new album, Peaches!
The rock band's frontman revealed that his father, Chuck, died following a cancer diagnosis one month before the album's release, on the Wednesday (May 27) episode of Rolling Stone's Nashville Now podcast.
"This whole life has been a bit of a dream, and he helped put me here," the rocker remarked about the group's cover of the song "It's a Dream" on the new LP. "I feel like he would have loved that song. It was right up his alley. He gave me so much. It was like one last gift."
The Grammy-winning rock duo released their 14th studio album on May 1, which featured the aforementioned track, originally recorded by Charles Fisher Jr.
"Everything about what I do is related to my dad, musically and aesthetically," Auerbach continued. "He was an antique dealer, a picker. I knew how to pack a van for tour because I would pack the van for my dad's antique shows."
