Going for the gold!

Weezer announced their self-titled 20th album, unofficially named The Gold Album after its artwork, on Wednesday (June 3).

"Plated in what surface instruments call gold," the Grammy-winning band captioned the photo of the album's artwork via Instagram. "It bears the name Weezer. Its surface is marked by four symbols believed to represent its creators. Carry it with you to the Gathering, and witness what follows."

The rockers also dropped the lead single off the upcoming LP, "We Might As Well Be Strangers." The album drops August 21.

In addition to the new album announcement, the band also garnered buzz earlier this week after being announced as a headliner at the upcoming 2026 iHeartRadio Music Festival.

Last month, the iconic rock group was honored by the Library of Congress after their 1994 debut album, dubbed the Blue Album, was added to the National Recording Registry.

The group's self-titled debut featured iconic hits such as "Buddy Holly" and "Say It Ain't So," with the LP remaining the band's best-selling album to date.

Weezer is also gearing up to hit the road this fall for a 32-city North American arena tour. The outing follows the band's sold-out "Voyage to the Blue Planet" tour in 2024, which celebrated 30 years of the Blue Album.
