The FBI is investigating a video claiming responsibility for a possible explosive device left at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida. The video, sent to the Tampa Bay Times via Signal, warns of more potential bombs and outlines a timeline of threats targeting the base last week.
The suspicious package found on March 16 contained "possible energetic materials." The FBI is examining the video to determine its credibility and to identify those behind it. The video features a silhouetted figure with an altered voice, claiming affiliation with a group opposing the war in Iran and U.S. deportation policies.
The Tampa Bay Times reported that the video mentioned a bomb allegedly planted on March 10, which failed to detonate. The speaker claims the design flaws have been corrected and threatens future attacks. The video was handed over to the FBI by the Times due to public safety concerns.
The FBI has stated that it takes all threats seriously and is using its resources to investigate the threats at MacDill. The base raised its security level to FPCON Charlie following the discovery of the package. MacDill Air Force Base is a key command hub for the Pentagon, hosting U.S. Central Command and Special Operations Command.
The FBI continues to work with federal, state, and local law enforcement to ensure community safety. They urge the public to report any suspicious activities to law enforcement immediately.
